Are we DOOMED with Donald Trump?
I dont helieve we are doomed. I believe we are blessed.
No, I dont believe Trump is the second coming of Christ. I don’t believe he is the only one with good ideas. I don’t believe he is a candidate that we normally would see as presidential material.
But, I think if we take a deep breath and seek a moment of quiet, we may see that our prayers (anxiety/concerns) are not always answered with what we want, but we usually get what we need. We only need to recognize it. (Maybe a new campaign theme song – ‘you can’t always get what you want, but you find sometimes, you get what you need)
How could this be possible? Well, first I believe that we must acknowledge that WE ALL have created this crisis – we were LAZY, GREEDY and intellectually DISHONEST. We allowed our partisans to distract us with meaningless shiny objects while our ship veered off course and is heading towards the shoals. If we had been doing our job as citizens, we would have called FOUL decades ago on MANY issues – but we didn’t because we trusted it would all work out. Some of us were outright dishonest and criminal with our political activites.
Can it really happen? Can Trump be our most unlikely and most reviled savior? I say yes. Because I am a thoughtless ‘Trumpian’? Some mindless gnat flying to the brightest light of the cult of personality? NOT ME, NOT ANY MORE.
He can win! Not only the primaries, but the GENERAL ELECTION! How you ask? Here are my thoughts in no particular order:
1) Trump communicates STRENGTH. This is an attribute recognized and celebrated but ALL Americans – republican, Democrat and independants.
2) Trump has demonstrated competence. His business skills are indisputable. No other candidate has the depth or breadth of business experience.
3) Trump understands that to win, you have to take control of the game. If the established methods won’t work, then create NEW methods.
4) Trump is FOCUSED. There is no doubt that Trump believed in the power of self-image. He does not shoot for third place – he has a fiercely competitive personality that is not comfortable with second place. If only to feed his ego, Trump will pull out all the stops to accomplish his goals. Isn’t success what we desperately need right now?
5) Trump will bring ALL Americans into his tent. Democrats recognize the desperate situation our country is in (at least a good number of them are). They will vote Trump.
I urge everyone to take that deep breath and find a quiet place in your mind. Think it through.
